Tyler Gurth

Hi! My name is Tyler, I'm a full-time software engineer at Duolingo . At Brown University, I was on the Computer Science software and security tracks and also double majored in History of Art and Architecture.
I graduated Brown in 2025, and while there I wore many hats. I was a Meta TA in the CS department, so I was often found making chaos in Google Calendar (or playing dodgeball). I also was a Head TA for introductory computer science classes there (ask me about proofs, all things digital, or programming languages).
My engineering interests lie primarily in security. My research interests lie in combining computer vision with art history. My art interests lie in art of the Cold War, Slavic Art, and architectural history (from the 19th Century onwards). Lately, I've been particularly interested in exploring architecture of religious spaces, after seeing a suspiscious number of onion domes while in Bavaria.
I am a big fan of photography, and I love to travel (mostly to see architecture!). As I get familiar with my new home of Pittsburgh, I am open to any and all recs!
Feel free to reach out on any of my socials at any time, I am always up to connect! Or, email me!
